Over 100 fatalities in road accident in January
Road accidents have killed over 100 people around the country in the first month of this year resulting in losses of over 10 billion, according to traffic police. Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security reported that in January 595 road accidents occurred around the country with a total of 105 people losing their lives, 132 people were left in a critical condition, 358 were seriously injured and 399 people were slightly injured. .. - Saravan carving out a warm welcome for visitors
Saravan province is creating a large wooden carving to welcome visitors while highlighting the local lifestyle of ten ethnic groups in the province, an official said yesterday.
Mr Bounpone Inthasone who in charge of the project told Vientiane Times the impressive carved figure is nine metres tall and five metres in circumference with its creation costing more than 1.9 billion kip supported by the government.
“Authorities want the carving to depict the local lifestyles of ten ethnic groups. Currently, the figure is 95 percent complete and will be unveiled to launch Visit Laos Year 2018 in Saravan province, he said.. ..More >>>
